Lagos através do buraco da agulha é a primeira exposição de fotografia estenopeica de grandes dimensões realizada em Portugal que apresentará no CCL originais com dimensões que atingem os 3,58 m de largura, diversas câmaras pinhole e uma câmara fotográfica gigante e visitável que demonstra o processo de formação da imagem fotográfica.
Este evento é o resultado do trabalho realizado em Lagos pelo LAC – Laboratório de Actividades Cria-tivas, de Lagos e pelo Núcleo de Fotografia do Instituto Politécnico de Portalegre, com coordenação de Jorge Pereira e Rui Cambraia. Este processo foi iniciado em 2007 através de oficinas abertas e no âmbito dessas iniciativas didáctico-pedagógicas, e como forma de sensibilizar novos públicos, produziram-se câmaras fotográficas cada vez maiores, onde foi possível realizar diversas experiências, de onde resultaram os exemplares em exposição. São apresentadas na exposição sete fotografias panorâmicas de locais emblemáticos da cidade de Lagos, e seus arredores, que pelas suas grandes dimensões e contrastes marcados, incrementam dramaticamente a vertente expressiva, reinventado a nossa própria relação com os lugares representados, o que lhes aufere, além do valor documental, um sentido de objecto artístico.
JORGE PEREIRA, Moçambique, 1974. Em 1998, conclui o Curso Superior de Escultura na ARCA, em Coimbra. Desde então, desenvolve diversos trabalhos cénicos com diversos grupos de Teatro e Dança. Participa em diversas exposições individuais e colectivas, com trabalhos de instalação e pintura. De 2003 a 2007, trabalha com a Amalgama Companhia de Dança, ao nível do design gráfico e vídeo. Desde 2006, tem a seu cargo a imagem gráfica do LAC – Laboratório de Actividades Criativas. Em 2007, cria conjuntamente com a escritora Cristina Taquelim, ilustrações para o livro infantil “Malaquias”. Paralelamente, executa trabalhos de desenho técnico de arqueologia. Actualmente, é artista residente do LAC – Laboratório de Actividades Criativas e pertence à Direcção desta Associação.
RUI CAMBRAIA, Lisboa, 1967. Artista plástico e docente Equiparado a Professor-Adjunto na Escola Superior de Educação de Portalegre, desde 1999, na área científica de Educação Visual e Tecnológica, leccionando várias disciplinas de expressão plástica e fotografia em diversos cursos. Licenciatura em Pintura pela ESBAL de Lisboa, 1992. Mestrado em Estética e Filosofia da Arte pela Fac. de Letras da U. L., 2001. Doutorando na Fac. de Letras da U. L, área de Estética, com um projecto de filosofia da fotografia, em torno da ontologia da imagem fotográfica. Em 2006-07 colaborou com o ISCTE, no Dep. de Arquitectura e Urbanismo, co-leccionando a disciplina de Desenho. O percurso profissional não-académico é indissociável de um processo formativo, experimental e pedagógico, caracterizando-se por uma diversidade de actividades como, monitor de oficinas de fotografia, colaboração com artistas plásticos e trabalho na área dos audiovisuais. Como artista-plástico, realizou exposições individuais, participou em diversos projectos de grupo e exposições colectivas, entre 1990 e 2008.
O LAC – Laboratório de Actividades Criativas – Associação Cultural é uma associação sem fins lucrativos, formada em 1995 e sediada no edifício da antiga cadeia de Lagos. Tem como objectivo principal dinamizar e promover a criação artística no barlavento algarvio, nomeadamente na divulgação dos artistas residentes nesta zona, promovendo a interdisciplinaridade e o contacto destes com outros artistas e instituições culturais nacionais e internacionais, com vista à troca de ideias e intercâmbios de iniciativas.
Lagos through the Pinhole is the first stenopeic photography exhibition of large dimensions in Portugal that it will exhibit in the CCL originals with dimensions that achieve 3.80 m wide, several cameras and a giant and visitable pinhole camera that demonstrates the process of forming a photographic image. This event is the result of the work carried out in Lagos by LAC – Laboratory of Creative Activities in Lagos, and the Photography Centre of the Polytechnic Ins-titute of Portalegre, with the coordination of Jorge Pereira and Rui Cambraia. This process started in 2007 through open workshops and in the range of those pedagogical teaching initiatives, and as a means of sensitising new public, new and bigger cameras were produced allowing several experiments and the obtained results are in exhibition. In the exhibition there are seven panoramic photos of emblematic sites in Lagos and its surroundings, which by their large size and contrasts, dramatically enhance the expressive side, re-inventing our own relationship with the represented places, which gives them, beside the documentary value, a sense of artistic object.
JORGE PEREIRA, Moçambique, 1974. In 1998, he studied Sculpture in ARCA, in Coimbra. Since then, he develops several scenic studies with several Theatre and Dance groups. He takes part in various individual and group exhibitions of installation work and painting. From 2003 to 2007, he works with the Dance Company Amalgama, in graphic design and video. Since 2006, he is in charge of the graphic image of LAC – Laboratory of Creative Activities. In 2007, he creates together with the writer Cristina Taquelim, illustrations for children’s book “Malaquias”. In addition, he works in archaeology technical design. He is currently a resident artist of LAC – Laboratory of Creative Activities and belongs to the Directorate of this Association.
RUI CAMBRAIA, Lisboa, 1967. Plastic artist and lecturer equivalent to assistant professor in the School of Education of Portalegre since 1999, in the scientific area of Visual and Technological Education, teaching several subjects of plastic expression and photography in various courses. Degree in painting from ESBAL in Lisbon, 1992. Master degree in Aesthetics and Philosophy of the Arts by the Fac. de Letras of Lisbon University in 2001, PhD in the Fac. de Letras of U. L., in the area of Aesthetics, with a project in Philosophy of Photography, around the ontology of the photographic images. 2006-07 has collaborated with ISCTE, at the Department of Architecture of Urban Design, co-teaching in the discipline of design. The non-academic career is inseparable from a training process, experimental and pedagogical being characterized by a variety of activities such as supervisor for photography workshops, collaboration with plastic artists and work in the area of media. As a plastic artist, he held individual exhibitions, took part in several group projects and group exhibitions between 1990 and 2008.
LAC – Laboratory of Creative Activities – Cultural Association is a non-profit association, formed in 1995, headqaurted in the building of the former chain of Lagos. Its main purpose is to foster and promote artistic creation in the Western Algarve, including the dissemination of artists living in this area, promoting interdisciplinary and contact these and other artists and cultural institutions nationally and internationally, the exchange of ideas and exchange initiatives.
